Showtime

Day 2 of the Country Living Spring Fair and we are still having fun. Yesterday was a blur – I had to go in 2 hours before the show opened in a mad panic to tweak the displays and make sure all was well. As per normal, the first day was the quietest, we had equal numbers of browsers and actual shoppers but it was still OK. By 10.30 this morning it was already obvious that it was going to be much busier and so it proved, we sold loads more. The finished stand generated quite a bit of interest and there was much admiration of the wall of flowers which had been painstakingly applied by Ari. Oh, the power of double-sided tape!

Today was great – it was sunny, it was warm, and the crowd were out to enjoy themselves. The absolute scene-stealers? The gorgeous wee lambs. The truism ‘never work with children or animals’ was manifested right before our eyes. Forget the little kids 🙂 it was brilliant watching grown men and women oohing and aahing over the little darlings. They of course gambolled and played like the precious divas they are. It increased the happiness quotient by a gazillion. The hens were total anarchists and absolutely bonkers. I could have warned them about the hens. When we were young my parents had a cockamamie plan to establish a poultry farm so I have experience of hens. I’ve loved them since then, they are nuts!

It was really lovely today. Made me proud to be a Londoner; we have a rep for rudeness but as I’ve also found in New York, Londoners can be relied on for some banter and they’re really engaged with the creative process. Even those who were not buying stopped to chat and encourage us and enough of them bought that it was just a pleasure. I ❤️ U, Londoners. My cousin Ayo came to help today and she is a way better saleswoman than I am. I just left her to it and tried to keep out of the way 🙂

See what I mean? We didn’t stand a chance!

Adorbs to the max little lambkins

Crazy hens…….

Random beautiful tree in the park. Yes, I am still obsessed with trees. No, I don’t know why except that they make me think of fractals.

All in all, a pretty good time is being had by all and I’ve already had ideas for some new products because of the feedback I’ve received. It’s going to be gorgeous this weekend. Don’t waste it sitting indoors, come out and see us. Tempus fugit, we won’t pass this way again so we should try to redeem the time. There’s a great vibe at the Fair and walking through the park with its glorious springtime scents and the beautiful trees and blossom is a recipe for happiness. Hope to see you there; if you make it, we’re at D19. Stop by and say hello. Have a lovely weekend.
